Hendrix Engineering - Bolt in 8.8 Conversion
This is the one you heard about!
the 2004-2006 GTO has a differential that was designed for a 6 cylinder, it was never meant for V8 power. It doesn't hold up well to the abuse, currently it is getting difficult to find parts and if you do there outrageous, when your done spending 1000's you still have a puny rearend. In 2006 only after 4th rearend with 500 miles went out, I'd had enough. Lucky for me I knew Scott Grant, and the 8.8 was born! I started with nearly $4000 9" parts, after fabbing it up we quickly realized that the 9" wouldn't fit without lowering the diff. and move it toward the rear of the car. Both direction opposite of what you would want to do.
It doesn't matter the brand, any 9" is a big compromise.
The 8.8 is lighter, cheaper, takes less power to turn, and has a much better axle angle. This bolt in kit has been proven for decades, In cars with up to approximately 2000 HP!
This kit can do it all, from a quick trip to the store, to an 8 second pass down the strip.
The standard 8.8 kit comes with the following:
1 piece 4" aluminum driveshaft
31 Spline Stubs 2000 hp Axles
Heavy duty rear cover
Brackets
Bushings
Grade 8 bolts
